TPT Retirement Solutions has appointed Ian Maybury to be the co-opted expert on its funding committee.

The workplace pension provider — which provides pension for over 2,6000 organisations — appointed Maybury to its funding committee in January. In this enhanced role Maybury will provide independent, expert support and opinion on matters relating to the funding and investment strategy for each of TPT’s defined benefit schemes.

Maybury is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and has previously worked for Royal London Insurance, CitiGroup, Redington, and most recently Schroders.

He has experience working with both DB and DC schemes and has served on pension scheme committees for British Airways, the Universities Superannuation Scheme, Unilever’s UK pension scheme, and Royal Mail’s collective DC pension plan. He has also served as an independent member of the trustee board for the John Lewis Partnership pension scheme since 2018.

TPT senior director Jonathan Wheeler says: “I am delighted Maybury has joined TPT.  He brings a wealth of experience and will support the committee in its decisions through his expert knowledge of the interaction of investment risk, sponsor covenant and recovery plans.”

Maybury adds: “I have seen first-hand the challenges pensions give to individuals and organisations, particularly in the charity and voluntary sector, and being able to be a part of an organisation helping to address those challenges is going to be very rewarding.”
