Scottish Widows has bolstered its master trust team and board with the appointment of David Butcher, Gerald Wellesley and Sharon Bellingham.
Butcher, who joins Scottish Widows from Legal & General’s Master Trust, joins the Scottish Widows Master Trust board. Punter Southall Governance Services client director Gerald Wellesley also joins the board.
Sharon Bellingham, who has 25 years’ experience in defined contribution pensions, joins from Hymans Robertson as master trust lead, responsible for driving forward the insurer’s ambitious plans, developing future strategy, and leading on market engagement.
Butcher also join Scottish Widows’ Independent Governance Committee. He has more than 40 years’ experience in pensions and investments.
A fifth board master trust member will be announced later this year.
The new appointments follow the master trust’s recent review to ensure it continues to deliver the best outcomes for members.
Andrew Warwick-Thompson, chair of the Scottish Widows Master Trust, says: “We’re excited at what the future holds for the master trust. David and Gerald – each with extensive experience in different areas – will help the board deliver our strategic agenda for members.”
Graeme Bold, workplace savings director at Scottish Widows, says: “Building on the strength of our existing team, these three strong appointments are part of our plans to grow our master trust and deliver great outcomes for the members.”
