Help@hand, the health and wellness app from Unum UK, has reached a new milestone by receiving 100,000 downloads on iOS and Android devices.

Downloads increased sharply at the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic. According to the most recent data from Unum, in June 2022, it reached a new monthly high of over 7,000, underscoring the sustained desire for digitalization in the health and welfare sector. Users of Help@hand gave the service an average rating of 9 out of 10 for overall satisfaction.

All Unum Income Protection, Life, and Critical Illness clients have access to Help@hand, which offers employees and eligible family members unlimited remote GP appointments, mental health support, physiotherapy, medical second opinions, an integrated employee assistance programme and a wellbeing calendar.

The Help@hand Market Insights dashboard is also available to eligible employers. Managers can spot important workforce patterns including utilisation by health issue, number of sessions used, gender, age, and appointment time, providing businesses with the knowledge to modify their wellbeing plans, services, and resources in the workers’ best interests.

Unum UK CEO Mark Till says: “We are delighted our Help@hand app has reached the phenomenal milestone of 100,000 downloads. This shows there is a great appetite from employers and employees for access to high quality, on-demand health and wellbeing services — perhaps more than ever in today’s hybrid working world. By providing employees with remote access to GPs, mental health support and more, employers gain a valuable tool in the war for talent that helps bolster their benefits packages to attract and retain talent.”
