Scottish Widows has named Jackie Leiper as its new distribution director, replacing Ronnie Taylor, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

Leiper’s role will be centred around building business relations with financial advisers, employee benefits consultants and corporate clients.

She moves from the role of protection director, and will lead a team of over 350 staff and take a seat on the group’s Insurance & Wealth Executive committee.

Taylor joined Scottish Widows in 2013, and was formerly CEO of Vebnet and held senior roles at Standard Life.

Lieper has previously worked in the distribution team as director of corporate pensions relationships, where she led the distribution strategy for corporate advisers, EBCs and employers. Leiper also led the team to support over 4,000 employers through automatic enrolment.

Scott Cadger, head of underwriting and claims strategy, will take on interim responsibility for leading the protection business.

Scottish Widows chief executive Antonio Lorenzo says: “We are delighted to appoint someone of Jackie’s calibre to this important role. Intermediaries are fundamental to the success of our business and we place a huge amount of emphasis on working with them to ensure we deliver for their clients.  Jackie has established strong relationships in the intermediary market and is best positioned to develop the team to continued success.

“I’d like to thank Ronnie for his hard work in getting the team to where it is today, including helping us achieve the honour of being named Company of the Year for service by intermediaries, and wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
