WTW has appointed Craig Baker as chief investment strategist to its investments business (Tower Watson).
Baker was the global chief investment officer for ten years and will continue to serve on the investments global leadership team but now take on more external, market-facing responsibilities.
He will continue to head Alliance Witan’s portfolio management while supervising strategic alliances and international investment prospects. He’ll also look for methods to increase Towers Watson’s investor base.
Baker will be replaced as global CIO by Jon Pliner, who has been head of delegated portfolio management for the US since 2017 and is now deputy CIO. Pliner will also join the investments global leadership team. He has spearheaded the development of portfolio solutions for US clients that are outsourced, serving as co-chair of the private markets and real assets investment committees.
Baker and Pliner are based in London and New York, respectively, and will take up their new roles in April.
Towers Watson Diya Luke global head of investments says: “I want to congratulate Craig and Jon on their new roles. Following 10 highly successful years as our CIO, and 30 years with our Investments business, Craig’s new role is strategically important in helping to further grow our business.
“I am also delighted to welcome Jon onto our Global Leadership Team and excited for him to start work with a range of new clients. Jon brings a breadth of experience that will greatly benefit our clients and our partners.”
