XPS Pensions Group has appointed Neil Maines as a senior consultant in its investment team.

Maines joins from Sydney-based Jana Investment Advisers, and has more than 13 years investment experience advising DB and DC clients.

XPS says his experience working with Australian super funds will be particularly valuable in helping the company develop its own DC schemes. This appointment comes as government and regulatory policy seeks to shift the UK pension landscape closer to the Australian model.

Aside from his insight into Australian super funds Maines has broad experience working in the pension industry which includes scenario analysis and pension scheme funding and modelling, fiduciary management oversight for DB clients.

XPS Pensions Group head of investment Ben Gold says: “[Maines] will play a key role in helping XPS support our clients through some important challenges such as navigating the new funding rules and advising on the run-on versus buyout question DB pension schemes are facing.  Building on his Australian experience will also be invaluable in helping DC schemes shape their strategies.”

XPS Investment advises over 350 clients and has over £110 billion assets under advice.
