Mike O’Donnell, former chief executive officer of the London CIV, joins XTP as a non-executive director and senior advisor.

O’Donnell will support XTP’s growth plans in the public pension space in the UK. O’Donnell served as the chief executive officer of London CIV for the past four years. London CIV is one of the largest LGPS pooling organisations in the UK and manages the pension funds for all boroughs of London as well as the City of London. O’Donnell was a key contributor to London CIV’s transformation and smooth operation through trying times.

O’Donnell, who spent 13 years at the London Borough of Camden and has held interim finance director positions at Birmingham City Council and the London Borough of Newham, has more than 30 years of experience working in local government finance and corporate services.

O’Donnell formerly served as both the chair of the London Finance Advisory Committee and the president of the Society of London Treasurers. He also served as the London Pension Fund Authority’s chair of the audit and risk committee and as a former NED.

XTP director Stewart Bevan says: “We have had a strong start to 2023 and are delighted to further bolster the UK team. Mike has unparalleled insights into the local government arena and will be helping us to address the needs of this unique audience with XTP’s offering. It is great to have Mike on board.”

O’Donnell says: “Local government pension plans need to navigate through challenging times. Pools will increasingly turn their attention towards cost efficiency to add value for clients while further improving investment governance. XTP’s offering is a perfect match. I am excited to be supporting XTP’s highly experienced team in executing their growth plans in UK’s public pension space.”
