Axa PPP Healthcare has announced major enhancements to its online GP service Doctor@Hand, offered in partnership with Doctor Care Anywhere.

These enhancements are designed to provide a more seamless treatment process and give members faster access to diagnostics.

Members can now use this service to get referred for diagnostic tests, removing the need to see a specialist. Doctor@Hand will also liaise directly with the insurer to pre-authorise claims on members’ behalf.

In addition, diagnostic test results will now be reviewed remotely by qualified specialists. Results and interactions are recorded and reviewed on a single, secure patient record which members and clinicians can access at all times.

Doctor@Hand delivers an integrated communications plan for employers to help drive engagement and value from these services.

The enhanced service will be available, as part of Axa PPP healthcare’s Advance corporate healthcare scheme, to new business from April 2020 and to all Advance clients renewing from April 2020, with a further roll out to SME and individual members to follow.

Axa PPP healthcare chief executive Tracy Garrad says: “We’re excited by the opportunity to improve further member experience, care and outcomes with Doctor Care Anywhere.

“Our members already appreciate our highly successful Doctor@Hand service. Its flexibility is built for modern life, giving fast, convenient access to a fully qualified, experienced GP. A customer-focused approach is at the heart of what we’re trying to achieve at Axa PPP healthcare and Doctor@Hand will play a major role in this.”

Doctor Care Anywhere founder Dr Bayju Thakar adds: “Doctor Care Anywhere is delighted to be working with Axa PPP healthcare to make the Doctor@Hand proposition even more responsive to patients, through technological innovation.

“By enabling our GPs to order diagnostics for patients straight away and have the results reviewed by specialist consultants, patients will benefit from truly integrated care, and simpler, faster and more transparent access to high quality services.”

Microsoft already uses this Doctor@Hand service. The company’s HR director Andrea Winfield adds: “Our employees appreciate its speed and convenience. The ability to have a patient-GP dialogue translated quickly into onward diagnostics and treatment is what the modern healthcare experience is all about.”

She said this was a welcome addition to the company’s broader health and wellbeing offering – supporting employees and their loved ones to stay well.
