Aegon enhances member insight tool to boost engagement

Aegon has upgraded its member insights digital governance tool, with a view to boosting member engagement with workplace pensions. 

This updated tools allows employers, trustees and advisers to monitor and improve member outcomes more effectively. 

It also equips them with important scheme information to improve targeted campaigns and communications to employees — from considering workplace Isas alongside pensions, to making better use of the digital tools available.

Key features of this 2025 upgrade include:

  • More Ways to Save: new section on workplace Isas, and email campaign for other savings options outside of pensions
  • App activation: new data section on activation rates for the Aegon app, and email campaign on app functionality and activation
  • Online account set-up: email campaign for members to activate their online account, including issuing activation codes for workplace savers
  • Financial wellbeing: new section highlighting the importance of financial wellbeing to employers and trustees, with a campaign for members that directs them to further planning tools and support

These upgrades follow last year’s enhancements, which included detailed sections on deferred members, the gender pensions gap, and industry comparison data.

Aegon commercial director of workplace Nick Roy says:“As employers focus on engagement and helping their team achieve good outcomes, our member insights tool helps them to identify areas needing attention.”

He says this tool is currently being used by over 2,200 employers and these enhancements make Aegon’s Workplace platform more appealing. 

Roy adds: “Effective scheme governance is essential for employers, but it can be challenging. Our enhanced member insights tool eases this burden by providing a comprehensive view of member engagement and contributions. This makes governance more manageable.

“Our focus is on continuous delivery with more enhancements to come, as we’re committed to making pension savers’ experiences easier and better through superior digitisation and automation.”

Christine Archer APMI, workplace pension consultant at Employee Benefits Collective adds: “It has been great to see the evolution of Member Insights, including industry benchmarking data, which employers find useful in understanding where their pension offering stands against peers.

“I particularly like the calls to action included with that data, giving employers the power to launch their own nudge campaigns to improve engagement where needed.”
