Denplan has appointed Dr Matthew Nolan to be its head dental officer.

Nolan as been a Denplan practice adviser for the South East for over 25 years, alongside his role of principal dentist at Merivale Dental Practice.

In this new role he will sport and advocate for Denplan’s network of more than 6,600 member dentists, and help deliver on the company’s strategic aims. Denplan, which is now owned by Simplyhealth, says it is looking to build a sustainable future for dentistry.

Nolan will continue to practice dentistry part time, helping to provide insight into the day-to-day realities and needs of dental practices, teams and patients.

Simplyhealth and Denplan chief executive officer Paul Schreier says: “[Nolan’s] dental experience, and longstanding connection to the company makes him well placed to lead our clinical team and champion dental excellence.

“As a key voice of our Denplan members, Nolan will play an  important role in driving our work to secure a sustainable future for dentistry and improve access to healthcare for all in the UK.”

Nolan said of his appointment: “I’m joining Denplan at a critical time for the dental industry. There are increasing national challenges to dental access, and a corresponding increase in Parliamentary interest in oral health policy, making it all the more important for Denplan to advocate for its members. I’m looking forward to taking on that challenge with my colleagues.”
