AllianceBernstein has appoints Omar Rauf as its new UK retail sales director.

In this role Rauf will be responsible for servicing and expanding AB’s relationship with the wholesale market in the UK. He will report to AllianceBernstein’s head of UK retail, Lee Matthews.

Rauf joins from Robeco Investment Management, where he held the role of sales manager for global financial institutions across the UK and Ireland. He has previously also help positions at Aberdeen Standard Investments.

Alongside this appointment AllianceBernstein announced two internal promotions with Claudia Sanchez-Buenaventura and John Lancashire both being appointed to the role of UK retail sales manager.

Sanchez-Buenaventura will be responsible for UK retail clients and global financial institutions, with Lancashire taking on responsibility for developing commercial relationships with the strategic partner market in the UK.

Matthews says: “The UK wholesale space has been a key component of AB’s strategic expansion into the European intermediary market.

“With an expanded sales team we are well placed to provide a more tailored service to the UK’s discretionary and advisory channels across the UK.”

These appoints follows AB’s recent launch of four more funds within its UK-domiciled OEIC umbrella structure.

Matthews says: “These, along with our previously launched fund, were driven by the needs and demands of UK investors.”
