Aon is appointing Tony Pugh as head of DC solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Pugh joins Aon after 28 years with Mercer where he was a senior partner. He previously led Mercer’s UK DC retirement business and its European DC business for three years.

His advice has covered DB and DC schemes, companies and trustees, while he has also worked extensively in strategy and design and in developing benefit programmes for financial services organisations.

Pugh’s appointment is the latest of several high profile additions to Aon’s DC team over the past year, including Tony Britton as head of DC Delegated Sales, Chris Inman as a principal investment consultant, and Neil Latham as a principal consultant.

Aon Hewitt CEO EMEA Andy Cox says: “Tony Pugh has an impressive record and reputation in the DC market. He has continually demonstrated innovative ideas and skills, extending DC advice and solutions into wider savings, which more effectively meet the needs of both employers and employees.

“Aon’s range of DC services has grown considerably in the last couple of years and I am certain that Tony’s knowledge and approach will help us both to consolidate and build on our position as the leading DC provider in the EMEA market.”

Pugh says: “With The Aon MasterTrust recently completing the Quality Assurance Framework, the recruitment of high quality people and the development of new DC services, I am clearly joining Aon at a time of growth and progress.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me personally and I am looking forward to working with Aon’s talented team to offer even more effective services to a DC market which is increasingly coming to the forefront of the UK pensions industry.”
