Former Willis Towers Watson head of DC and communications Nico Aspinall has been named chief investment officer of B&CE, provider of The People’s Pension.

Aspinall, who was formerly responsible for the investment proposition of Willis Towers Watson’s LifeSight master trust, has been appointed to lead B&CE’s investment management team to support the board and trustees in driving investment strategy during a period of expected rapid growth in funds under management.

Aspinall was also formerly head of DC and communications for the Barclays Bank UK Retirement Fund.

Aspinall says: “I am delighted to be joining B&CE, which offers the rare opportunity of working in a not-for-profit environment, to influence the shape of the DC industry, and all dedicated to the benefit of millions of members. I am very excited to be responsible for the investment proposition both within The People’s Pension and across the other asset pools within B&CE.”

B&CE CEO Patrick Heath-Lay says: “We are thrilled that Nico will be joining us. He brings with him impressive experience of creating and implementing investment strategies within the DC market, which will allow B&CE and The People’s Pension, to maximise the effectiveness of our assets and crucially, improve investment outcomes for the group and its members.”
