Canada Life has appointed Dominic Moret as managing director of bulk purchase annuities.
He will lead the insurer’s end-to-end BPA proposition and its growth strategy, reporting to chief executive Emma Watkins and joining Canada Life’s executive committee.
Moret joins from Legal & General, where he was most recently head of origination and execution, leading the commercial team and overseeing the development of its BPA proposition, external relationships and the delivery of BPA transactions through to buyout.
He has more than 20 years’ experience across the pensions and insurance sector, including 12 years in the UK BPA market.
Canada Life UK chief executive Emma Watkins says: “Canada Life’s BPA business has strong momentum, achieving important milestones in the last year, including taking our first schemes with deferred members to buyout and delivering an industry‑first buyout member experience through our Your Life Hub, with WeCare at its heart. Dom brings exceptional leadership and deep market experience, positioning us to accelerate our BPA strategy and scale for the future.
“His appointment marks a real step change in Canada Life’s ambition in the BPA market and reinforces our commitment to being a long‑term partner of choice for pension schemes and their members.”
Canada Life managing director, Bulk Purchase Annuities Dominic Moret says: “I was attracted to Canada Life by the combination of a strong and established platform, talented people and a real ambition to grow in the BPA market with the backing of global parent Great-West LifeCo. I’m excited about the opportunity to build on the progress already made and take the business to its next phase.
“For me as Managing Director, that means combining commercial ambition with a relentless focus on the experience we deliver to pension scheme members and trustees, and building on solid foundations to further develop our capabilities and build stronger, long-term relationships with pension schemes and their advisers.”
