Canada Life UK has appointed Paul Russell as its chief information officer.

Russell joins from Upside Saving, where he served as the company’s founder and chief technology officer. He has over 20 years of expertise creating complicated online consumer experiences, as well as a comprehensive and deep understanding of the best modern digital engineering methodologies, tools, and architectures. He’s worked in a variety of businesses, including IT service management firm Smart 421, as well as financial services firms Legal & General and Aviva.

Canada Life chief operating officer Caroline Dibbs says: “We’re thrilled to welcome Paul to Canada Life. His entrepreneurial spirit and experience leading a start-up will be vital in supporting our ambitious plans across the portfolio. I’m very excited to have him on board for this journey as we develop our technology expertise and customer understanding.”

Russell says: “This is a great time to join a business which is partway through a significant transformation and IT change programme. I look forward to working with the team to help navigate through this complex programme of work to deliver a better adviser and customer experience.”
