The non-profit-making Friendly Society has become the first health cash plan provider to include the benefit in its product portfolio, providing enhanced cover for corporate members.

The benefit, which will also be rolled out across tailored schemes later in 2014, covers 14 hours of home assistance cover after a pre-planned hospital stay for two or more nights. It is available as part of the corporate scheme across all levels.

Philip Wood, executive director of sales and marketing at Health Shield, said: ‘The new benefit emphasises our commitment not only to providing cover for preventative care, but also during the recovery process to help our members get back to good health as quickly as possible.’
