Investment platform Tillit has appointed Danny Meehan as a non-executive director as it steps up its launch into the UK pensions market.

Meehan has worked for a number of newer entrants in the workplace pensions market. He was part of the senior team at Cushon, holding the role of head of workplace pensions then becoming the firm’s proposition and development director.

Following Cushon’s acquisition by NatWest, Meehan joined Link Group as growth leader, where he currently leads the growth strategy of the Australian pension group as it expands into the UK.

Meehan has also previously worked for KPMG’s pensions advisory business, Willis Towers Watson and Capita.

As an investment platform Tillit offers a curated investment universe of best-in-class funds to investors to help them build their own retirement portfolios.

Meehan says: “The industry must do more to provide people with the tools and the freedom to make their own decisions, assisted by technology and timely, high-quality information.

“Tillit has a refreshing way of engaging and speaking to their customers that really resonates with me.” He adds that the new perspectives he hopes to bring to the board will enable Tillit to deliver on its strategic objectives.”

Tillit founder and CEO Felicia Hjertman says this appointment will help the company “turbocharge”  its launch into workplace pensions.  “The industry needs to do much more to empower members to take ownership of their pension. The first step on that journey is to encourage engagement by allowing more freedom of choice supported by high-quality, plain language information so that members can take action and make informed decisions.”
