Standard Life has appointed Wendy Redshaw to the newly-created role of group chief digital & technology officer.
The role will bring together Standard Life’s technology, digital, data, security and AI capabilities, with a view boosting engagement with financial products, helping deliver better outcomes for customers, and supporting the company’s wider growth ambitions.
Redshaw has extensive experience leading digital and technology transformation across the banking industry, most recently as NatWest Group’s chief digital information officer for retail.
In this new role she will lead the enterprise technology function, helping Standard Life strengthen the capabilities that support customers and enable greater innovation while also delivering the scale needed to achieve its ambition of becoming the UK’s leading retirement savings and income business.
Standard Life says Redshaw will play a fundamental role in delivering its digital strategy and will report into the group CEO Andy Briggs and sit on the group’s executive committee.
An exact start date has not been announced, with Standard Life saying Redshaw will join the company in the coming months.
Standard Life CEO Andy Briggs says: “Technology, data and AI are increasingly important in helping us support customers throughout their journey to and through retirement. [Redshaw’s] experience in leading large-scale digital transformation programmes will help us build on the strong foundations we’ve put in place and continue improving the ways we serve customers and deliver better outcomes.”
Wendy Redshaw, incoming group chief digital & technology officer, Standard Life adds: “I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place. There’s a huge opportunity ahead, and I’m excited to be part of a business that is actively supporting their customers on the journey to and through retirement”.
