The sentencing of two defendants charged in connection with a multi-million-pound pension fraud has been scheduled.

Alan Barratt and Susan Dalton will be sentenced on Friday, April 22 at Southwark Crown Court. Both defendants have pleaded to allegations of fraud by abuse of position stemming from their duties as pension scheme trustees.

Between 2012 and 2014, 243 investors were induced to move £13.6m in pension savings to 10 pension schemes controlled by Barratt and Dalton. The defendants then spent the cash, wiping out practically all of the savings.

Judge Perrins deferred the matter for sentencing today at Southwark Crown Court.

The Pensions Regulator is prosecuting the case (TPR). TPR presented no evidence against Julian Hanson who was also charged with fraud by abuse of position, at the hearing today. The court officially issued a not guilty verdict. Hanson has previously pleaded not guilty. TPR stated that while the evidence requirement in the instance of Hanson continues to be met, it has determined that it is no longer in the public interest to pursue the case against Hanson after careful review.
